School of Law to Host Supreme Court Conference

Western New England College School of Law will host its 15th annual Supreme Court Review on Saturday, October 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Room A of the Blake Law Center. The event is free and open to the public.
The seminar will explore recent changes in the makeup of the court with the appointment of Justice Elena Kagan. Panelists will also discuss important Supreme Court cases decided during the 2009-2010 term, including cases involving freedom of speech, campaign financing, criminal justice, and federalism. Panelists include Western New England College School of Law professors Leora Harpaz, Bruce Miller, Giovanna Shay, and Arthur Wolf.
The event is sponsored by the School of Law’s Institute for Legislative and Governmental Affairs. Created in 2000, the Institute offers law students the opportunity to engage in activities relating to the legislative process. It also provides other educational opportunities and community services, including drafting bills and ordinances for public officials, sponsoring conferences and lectures, and conducting legislative workshops. These opportunities and services are available not only to law students, but also to members of the bar, the bench, and the general public.
