Color of Law Hosts Taruna Garg
Posted Friday, February 11, 2011
The Color of Law Roundtable Discussion hosted Taruna Garg, associate at Murtha Cullina, LLP, on February 9. Garg spoke about her career in bankruptcy law while imparting wisdom and advice to those in attendance.
Garg reminded students that law school is the "only opportunity that you'll have to really get exposure to all kinds of aspects of the law. When you get out into practice, you may or may not have a choice as to the area of law you want to practice in, particularly if want to practice in a private firm." By diversifying one's knowledge, Garg pointed out that it can help to land a position upon graduation.
In addition to speaking about her career path, Garg told students "don't forget to do things that you love. This doesn't have to be law related at all. It could be community service work, it could be athletics, or whatever it is that you truly enjoy doing, that is going to be a resource for you. It's just going to keep you very happy at the end of the day."
The next Color of Law event will take place on April 12 as Aimee Griffin Munnings '03, general counsel at the National Children's Center and former Director of the Western New England College Law and Business Center, speaks at 12:00 noon in Room C.
