Law and Business Center to Present Free Small Business Workshop

The Western New England College Law and Business Center for Advancing Entrepreneurship will present an information session on the basics of employment law Thursday, April 7. The session is scheduled for 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the Scibelli Enterprise Center, 1 Federal Street, Springfield. The workshop is free and open to the public.
The session will provide a roadmap for businesses to avoid common problems that arise under employment law. Three attorneys with extensive experience in the field will cover issues such as workers compensation insurance, the difference between independent contractors and employees, the importance of implementing an employee handbook, conducting regular performance reviews, effective discipline and documentation, and hiring pitfalls. There will be a question-and-answer period following the presentation.

The Western New England College Law and Business Center for Advancing Entrepreneurship was established to provide graduate business and law students with an opportunity to offer practical consultation to entrepreneurs.
