Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship Now Accepting Small Business Applications
Wednesday, July 11, 2012
The Western New England University Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship is now accepting applications from entrepreneurs and small business owners seeking legal assistance for the fall 2012 semester as part of its Small Business Legal Clinic. Under faculty supervision, law students assist clients with legal issues including choice of entity, employment policies, contract drafting, regulatory compliance, and intellectual property issues relating to trademark and copyright. The Clinic does not handle litigation. This is a free service available to local businesses that would not otherwise have the resources to obtain these types of services.
“The Clinic is a great resource for entrepreneurs who lack the finances to retain an attorney. By using the Clinic's services, businesses can avoid problems by getting legal issues addressed early and correctly. It also provides students with a great opportunity to get real world experience," says Eric Gouvin, Director of the Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship.
The Small Business Legal Clinic asks businesses to submit their applications for legal assistance by July 31. Applications may be completed online by visiting the Center’s website: www.wne.edu/cie. Applications received after July 31 will be considered if additional resources are available. For more information, call the Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship at 413-796-2030 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Western New England University Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (formerly the Law and Business Center for Advancing Entrepreneurship) was established to provide law students with an opportunity to provide practical consultation to entrepreneurs starting new and building existing small businesses in the community. This initiative strengthens alliances within the community by using the resources of the University to foster new business development. For more information, visit www.wne.edu/cie.
