School of Law to Host Convocation August 26

Western New England University School of Law will hold its Convocation marking the start of a new academic year on Monday, August 26 at noon in the Blake Law Center Commons. United States District Court Judge Michael A. Ponsor will deliver the keynote address. Ponsor was nominated by Bill Clinton in 1993 and received commission in 1994. Previously, he served a ten year term as U.S. Magistrate for the U.S. District Court.
Fall Convocation brings together members of the School of Law community to start a new academic year of learning and intellectual growth. The inclusion of noted members of the legal community serves as an opportunity to motivate and inspire students in the traditions of the legal profession. Past speakers include former Massachusetts Lt. Governor Timothy Murray, United States District Court Judge Alvin Thompson, Connecticut Supreme Court Chief Justices Ellen Ash Peters and Chase T. Rogers, American Bar Association President Michael S. Greco, Yale Law School Dean Harold Hongju Koh, and September 11th Victim Compensation Fund Special Master Kenneth R. Feinberg.
