Posted September 4, 2013
Western New England University School of Law held its Convocation marking the start of a new academic year on August 26 in the Blake Law Center Commons. Fall Convocation brings together members of the School of Law community to start a new academic year of learning and intellectual growth. University President Anthony S. Caprio addressed the crowd saying "convocations cause us to pause and think about the beginning that we are embarking upon." His remarks were followed by United States District Court Judge Michael A. Ponsor, who delivered the keynote address. Ponsor was nominated by Bill Clinton in 1993 and received commission in 1994. Previously, he served a ten year term as U.S. Magistrate for the U.S. District Court.

"In the process of earning a living, you will have an opportunity to do some good in the world and that is a great blessing that being a lawyer affords. You will find that it is very deeply satisfying," said Ponsor. He went on to say that "The opportunity to practice law in this moment in history and in the world and particularly in this place is a blessed gift. Enjoy it and do good."
