Posted November 6, 2013
Western New England University School of Law’s Clason Speaker Series will host a talk by Robin Kundis Craig on Thursday, November 14 at 12:00 noon in the Blake Law Center Commons. The talk, entitled “New Directions in State Public Trust Doctrines in a Climate Change Era,” is free and open to the public.
Craig is the William H. Leary Professor of Law at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law in Salt Lake City and a former member of the Western New England University School of Law faculty. Her lecture will include an overview of the public trust doctrine and PPL Montana, LLC v. Montana, and examine the different approaches states are developing, including the ecological public trust doctrine and the recent atmospheric public trust doctrine. In addition, Craig will address how these new and expanding public trust doctrines might assist efforts to combat climate change.
Now in its 25th year, the Clason Speaker Series hosts expert lecturers to enhance the academic environment at the Western New England University School of Law. The series is named after Charles R. Clason, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives who served as Dean of the School of Law from 1954 to 1970.
