Clason Speaker Series Hosts Michael Gerrard

Western New England University School of Law’s Clason Speaker Series hosted a talk by Michael Gerrard on September 23 in the Blake Law Center Commons. The talk, entitled “Can the Law Save Island Nations from Drowning?” addressed the international and domestic legal mechanisms that exist or can be imagined to help several small island nations in the Pacific that are threatened by rising seas as a result of increasing greenhouse gas emissions. Gerrard, Andrew Sabin Professor of Professional Practice at Columbia Law School, is the author or editor of 11 books and he writes for the New York Law Journal and edits the monthly Environmental Law in New York.
