GENERAL INFORMATION

Giovanna Shay writes and teaches about criminal law and the legal regimes regulating mass incarceration. Prior to joining the faculty in 2007, Professor Shay was a Robert M. Cover Clinical Teaching Fellow at Yale Law School. She also served as a Staff Attorney at the Public Defender Service for D.C., and was a Soros Justice Fellow at the ACLU National Prison Project. From 1997-98, she served as a law clerk at the Connecticut Supreme Court. From 2011-2013, Professor Shay  served as a Co-Chair of the Corrections Committee of the American Bar Association Criminal Justice Section. In 2014, Professor Shay is serving as the Chair-Elect of the AALS Criminal Justice Section.
