GENERAL INFORMATION

Giovanna Shay writes and teaches about criminal law and the legal regimes regulating mass incarceration. Prior to joining the faculty in 2007, Professor Shay was a Robert M. Cover Clinical Teaching Fellow at Yale Law School. She also served as a Staff Attorney at the Public Defender Service for D.C., and was a Soros Justice Fellow at the ACLU National Prison Project. From 1997-98, she served as a law clerk at the Connecticut Supreme Court. Professor Shay is currently Co-Chair of the Corrections Committee of the American Bar Association Criminal Justice Section. In 2013, Professor Shay is serving as the Secretary of the Criminal Justice Section of the Association of American Law Schools.
